Sunday- May 20, research lab tour

I just got back to the conference room from our morning job site tour. Max and Todd Enninga helped us understand the superintendent’s role on a project and how to do field inspections. We analyzed a research building fully equipped with chemical control laboratories. There was one instant when we were observing the basement and the power was turned off, leaving us in the pitch black. We hustled right out of there! One phase of the construction that I thought was particularly interesting was the amount of HVAC that is required for ventilating the research laboratories.   Now we are getting ready to discuss heat stress and how to keep safe in the heat prepared by Jamie Moffat.

On an off note...It is really fun learning in the office.  All the people that have taught us thus far work right outside the conference room (our classroom) during our break I get to see what they are working on.  The seasoned veterans (they call themselves here) have insurmountable knowledge of construction management. I often relate things to sports, and I thought to myself if these are the players for FTR then they could win the World Series! The other perk the office brings is free lunch, today we had KFC, and life is perfect!

We ended up our day with a presentation on Quality control prepaired by Mike Rogers.  He taught us the imporatance of quality control on a construction sight.  Now, as far as tonight goes I think we are having pizza hut for dinner.
